Jumpers for Teac FD-505 3.5/5.25 dual floppy? Post by Don Masl » Wed, 14 Jun 1995 04:00:00 : I've got a Teac FD-505 dual floppy (1.44M/1.2M) and the A: drive : is currently the 5.25 platter. I'd like the A: drive to be the : 3.5 platter. The floppy MUST be connected to the last connector : of the from the controller. The last connector is usually the : A: drive. I don't have any jumper settings for the Teac. Here's : what the jumper block looks like now: : o o[] F <- F-E row 1 jumper : E-D row 2 jumper -> []o o[] E : []o o D : o o[] C <- C-B row 1 jumper : B []o o[] : B-A row 2 jumper -> []o o A : 2 1 Four jumper total : The jumper block is between the power connector and the driver : connector. : I assume they correspond to DS1, DS2, MON1, MON2, MON3, MON4 That may or may not be a valid assumption, but I am told that the easiest way to switch which is A and B is to move it from the cable connector after the twist to the one before. Thanks >< According to the information I received from TEAC Tech Support [(213) 726-0303 x860] back in January, to select the 3.5" as the "A" drive, you set the jumpers as shown below: DRIVE SELECT DS0 o o o DS1 [o]-[o] o DS2 o [o]-[o] DS3 o o o 3.5"--------^ ^--------5.25" & RY o [o]-[o] DC MON1 o [o]-[o] MON2 MON3 [o]-[o] o MON4 The end connector is the "A" connector; the "B" connector is in the middle of the cable. BTW: If you are tired of having a beige drive in your gray system, the part numbers for the gray components are: Face plate: 17968428-02 $4.10 [Note: these prices Button (5.25") 16788660-02 .70 may not be current; Button (3.5") 16788944-02 .45 call first] The address for TEAC is: TEAC America, Inc. 7733 Telegraph Rd Montebello CA 90640 Hope this information helps, -- John Johnson (" 'Windows'?: a menu driven virus operating on top of DOS") - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ("The ultimate computer virus: a self-installing copy of 'BOB'?")
